TRAINEE ENGINEER OR EXPERIENCED - PATTERN SHOP

The primary responsibility of this position is to make sand molds into which molten metal is poured to form castings by using an automated molding machine to compact the sand in the mold according to specifications and quality standards.

a. Inspect patterns to ensure use of the correct pattern number to a written

schedule provided by the supervisor.

b. Inspect cores to ensure the use of correct cores.

c. Insert the proper core or chill between the two halves of the mold by hand.

  • Change patterns and squeeze heads on the molding machine
  • Determine hardness of the mold by reading the dial indicator on the hardness gage which has been inserted into the sand.
  • Move core boxes in and out of the Hunter area by utilizing a forklift, hand-jack, or by lifting/moving by hand
  • Troubleshoot problems with machinery and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Clean the molding machine at the end of the shift.
  • Promptly notify the supervisor of any problem related to the operation of the molding machine, process sheets or cores.
  • Strictly observe safety rules and procedures, utilize machine guards as required.
  • Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Master pattern making, Mounting of Pattern, Pattern Repairing, Inspection for Pattern, Core Box, Gig and Fixture, Casting's Method drawing. Quality Measuring Tools: Use of Quality Tools Like – Height Gauge, Vernior Calipers, Micro meter, Bevel Protector and other Gauges etc.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proven working experience as a Pattern Maker or a similar role in the Design unit.
  • Ability to use pattern making equipment and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of modern and traditional artworks.
  • Demonstrate working practice in minimizing wastage.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • A keen eye for detail for accuracy.
  • Ability to take feedback in a professional manner.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in computer software such as CAD, Adobe Illustrator, etc.
  • Ability to work for 12 hours.
  • Highly creative and hardworking individual.

  • Strong work ethic.
  • Able to read basic blueprints, technical diagrams and possessing basic computer skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate various pieces of machinery and equipment and hand tools.
  • Design, build and maintain tooling.
  • Read blueprints to produce precision tooling.
  • Provide support to the foundry through understanding of the foundry process.
  • Follow processes and standard work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

B.Tech/ Diploma or Equivalent; Foundry experience is a Plus.
