Core Shop Engineer – Job Description
Position: Core Shop Engineer
Department: Core Shop / Foundry
Reports To: Core Shop In-Charge / Production Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor core making machines
• Prepare and maintain sand mix ratios, binder and catalyst control.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy, strength, and surface finish of cores.
• Perform core inspection and record quality parameters.
• Coordinate with Moulding, Melting and Quality departments for production support.
• Follow daily production plans and achieve output targets.
• Monitor core shop housekeeping and safety compliance.
• Maintain daily production, rejection, and sand consumption records.
• Support trial runs, new pattern/core box development and process improvements.
Quality & Safety
• Ensure cores meet internal and customer quality standards.
• Follow PPE usage, chemical handling and core shop safety procedures.
• Participate in safety training, audits and toolbox talks.
Cost & Efficiency
• Control sand, resin, and consumable usage.
• Minimize core rejection and rework.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Basic knowledge of foundry core making processes.
• Understanding of sand testing and binder ratio control.
• Ability to use measuring instruments and quality tools.
• Basic reporting and documentation skills.
• Good learning attitude and team working ability.
Qualification & Experience
• Diploma / B.E. Mechanical / Foundry Technology.
• 0 to 2 years experience in foundry core shop operations.
Salary & Benefits
• Salary Range: ₹23,500 to ₹25,000 per month (Based on experience & skill)
